Abstract
This study is to investigate the scores of subjective expectation for elderly life security and related factors among the middle and aged people in Korea. This is also to suggest the direction for the approaching aged society and to develop related policy agenda based on the analysis into detailed subcategories of middle and aged people. The data for this study is the Korean Longitudinal Study of Ageing(KLoSA) surveyed ath the year 2008 including the variables of demography, health related characteristics, and subjective expectation for their elderly life security. In this study the variables of health security expectancy among middle and aged people are analysed on the social security during the late period of life, health insurance, and long-term care insurance with the health status and service utilization. The subjective expectation scores were around 40-50 of 100 point, expectations on the health insurance and long-term care insurance were higher than the expectation on the social security. The scores were higher among the middle aged (45~54, 55~65 years old groups) than elderly (65~74, 75 years and over groups), and this means that the expectations on the policies for elderly would increase at the approaching aged society. Using multiple regression model, factors affecting the subjective expectation for the elderly life security were analysed with the socio-economic variables, health behavior, health status, and medical utilization. The political implications of the findings from these analyses are extracted and suggested the policy agenda to improve the health security system for the coming aged society considering the socio-economic and health characteristics of the subage groups.
